MapIDE

Post by nico »

MapIDE is a package from that contains everything you need to make a map.

It was packed by Fate. Stealth has modified it in order to support ETrun and allow timerun mapping.

You can download it here (v1.1): http://dl.timeruns.net/tools/MapIDE-1.1.zip

Original release on ETJump forum (v1.0): http://forum.etjump.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=121

Very interesting, nice effort!

I got a small suggestion: use a program that shows keys you press so that it's easier to follow you.

Yea, Mapping's never been easier. Before this tool most of the work was spent getting radiant running smoothly.

Uploaded a few more vids, not sure what I'm going to do next. Possibly just make a half decent run and just explain as I go.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I installed Osd Hotkey so you can see which keys I'm pressing. Although sometimes it can go quite fast of not be very clear, but this was the only free software that I could find that works on windows 7, is semi-decent (detects all of the keys) and is able to be recorded (some of them weren't picked up by my recording software)

those vids are nice but for someone who doesnt like to pause vids all the time i would prefer something like this:
http://ws.q3df.org/level_design/
if we had a collection of tutorials on how to map timerun specific things on the website somewhere then you could always search for the specific thing that you forgot how to map` :D

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=172

The only thing not covered there are timerun specific things (start, stop timer and checkpoints), but that's just trigger_multiples attached to target_xxxxx

Also other people have said that they actually prefer videos & it's quite a lot of work to make tutorials with just screenshots & text (if you want to explain it in detail).

But as already stated I am open to suggestions and if you just need a quick 30 second to 1 minute video about how to make a map into a timerun (add the triggers) then just ask.
